The printing company Systema Frontis from Zagreb has been building its reputation for more than two decades as a reliable and innovative partner in small- and medium-format printing, approaching the industry with an “out-of-the-box” mindset. Their philosophy of constantly pushing boundaries has led them to yet another breakthrough—they have become the first printing house in the region to install the HP Latex R530 hybrid printer.
As Mr. Alen Sancanin, co-owner of the company together with Ms. Koraljka Kmosek, points out, the decision to invest in the new printer was a logical continuation of that very philosophy.
HP Latex for Premium Results
Thanks to its hybrid nature, the HP Latex R530 enables printing on both flexible and rigid materials, from acrylic and metal to wood, without compromising the texture or gloss of the substrate. Its compact design makes it ideal even for smaller spaces, while the hybrid system with movable tables allows quick switching between roll-to-roll and flatbed modes.
“One of the reasons we opted for this printer was its hybrid character, but also the introduction of new technology into our production. I admit, I was skeptical about latex for years, but now I can say that, in addition to being healthier, it also delivers outstanding results,” says Mr. Sancanin.
His experience at the exclusive presentation in Barcelona, where HP unveiled the R530, proved decisive. “When I saw there what HP Latex technology is capable of, I knew it was the next step for us,” he emphasizes. In addition to the technological aspect, he highlights environmental features as an important factor in the decision-making process. “Ecology is not just a trend, it’s a matter of responsibility. We can see that in our customers, who are increasingly asking for eco certificates,” he adds. HP Latex inks carry the UL ECOLOGO certification.
Easy Operation and Fast Learning Curve
The installation of the new printer went smoothly with the support of Fortuna Digital, HP’s regional partner. Although this is their first cooperation with Fortuna Digital in the technology segment, they are impressed by the company’s approach and professionalism.
“Everything related to the installation went effortlessly. The printer is truly very user-friendly, and practically anyone could operate it tomorrow,” says Mr. Sancanin. He adds that, while the team is still getting accustomed to it, they are currently using the roll option for standard applications such as posters. However, when it comes to rigid materials, everyone is already sending jobs directly to the printer, with excellent results.
“So far, there hasn’t been a single rigid material on which the ink didn’t adhere perfectly, not only did it hold, but the print quality was superb,” he explains. They can now also offer printing with white ink, which they previously lacked in this segment, opening up entirely new creative possibilities.
Exclusive Packaging as a Development Direction
Mr. Sancanin does not hide his enthusiasm for testing the limits of technology. “When I said at the presentation in Barcelona that I would use the HP R530 to produce exclusive packaging, everyone was surprised and asked how. My answer was, you’ll see. That’s why it’s no surprise that the very first unit in the region ended up right here with us,” he concludes.
