“Atlantik is a private printing house. We started the job in 1987. In the beginning it was a screen printing, then rotoprint and finally in the past ten years, there has been a significant step forward by building a modern building which comprises a large warehouse of raw materials ,a warehouse of finished products, the office area and modern printing house. Unfortunately, Bosnia and Herzegovina market is small and fragmented. For development on such a market, you should be ready to manufacture the entire graphics product range, from a business card, advertising material all the way to school textbooks or packaging industry. We employ slightly more than one hundred employees. In some special situations, when we take seasonal jobs such as printing ballots for elections, we hire additional twenty employees to perform processing operations and the number of employees often varies depending on our job needs. We deliver our products to 800 addresses of our regular customers all over the region.
We have noticed that the future is in packaging printing and over the last 7-8 years we have been developing intensively in that direction. Today packaging printing within our production makes almost half the income of the entire Atlantik printing. We are oriented on the production of food packaging, but we also produce a little bit of small-sized transport packaging from microval (corrugated). We produce packaging products for the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina but a substantial part of the packaging is also exported to Serbia and Croatia. A small portion is exported to the West (Austria, Germany, etc.). Here we are limited by transportation costs, which significantly affects the competitiveness of products. We produce packaging products for the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina but we also export to Serbia, Croatia, Austria and Germany.
Our packaging printing production takes place on Komori B1 machine with a water-dispersible lacquer unit and a few Heidelberg printing presses. In finishing phase we use B1 Bobst machine and Bobst gluer for boxes. We also have a significant number of machines for the production of commercial printing notepads, books and promotional material. Furthermore, we are thinking about making an investment in digital printing to produce short runs of less than 1000 pieces of promotional material.
Education of employees is difficult due to lack of educated personnel. Although in recent times, Banja Luka has organized secondary graphic school education, the level of education is not satisfactory and good enough. We are getting some knowledge from manufacturers of printing equipment and by visiting fairs. When purchasing printing equipment we arrange a staff training on the technology we buy. We have focused the future development of the company on printing packaging program. The company has introduced the ISO and FSC standards, and in the future we are planning to make stronger the export production segment.
Atlantik bb has its own modern manufacturing facility section ( whose size is 5300m2), educated workforce, modern equipment, around 800 hundred regular customers and a thirty year long tradition. These are our strengths which will enable us to build a successful development plan in the coming years.” – Mr. Branislav Galić – Atlantik d.o.o., Banja Luka
