The Zagreb-based printing company Ars Kopija has recently made a significant technological leap with the installation of the Flora XTRA5000, an impressive 5-meter UV roll-to-roll printer — the first of its kind in the wider region.
The Flora XTRA5000 replaces an older 3.2-meter solvent printer and opens new opportunities for Ars Kopija in the large-format printing segment, enabling faster, wider, and higher-quality printing on fabrics, banners, mesh materials, and paper.
“Regular modernization is key to staying competitive. This printer brings a higher level of quality and flexibility. With it, we can now produce visuals for large illuminated signs, which wasn’t possible with our previous equipment. Although UV inks are more expensive, the final outcome — in terms of quality and speed — makes this investment worthwhile,” said Mr. Branimir Kolar, owner of Ars Kopija.
The printer can simultaneously print on three rolls up to 1.6 meters wide and uses UV inks that provide improved durability.
The Flora XTRA5000 is equipped with eight Konica 1024a printheads, capable of printing drop sizes ranging from 6 to 18 picoliters. Its rated production speed reaches up to 210 m²/h, while typical real-world speeds for standard applications range from 60 to 90 m²/h. When printing on mesh materials, where high resolution isn’t required, speeds can exceed 100 m²/h.
“One of the extremely useful features is the ability to pause printing mid-job. If the operator notices an error, printing can be stopped and then resumed exactly where it left off after correction. For a printer of this width, where a mistake could mean several meters of wasted material, that’s a huge advantage,” said Mr. Ive Lenac, Director of TEPEDE, the authorized Flora distributor for the region, which handled the installation.
With this investment, Ars Kopija reinforces its position as one of the most advanced production centers in the region, fully prepared for the new challenges of large-format digital printing.
