We visited Forma printing house from Slovenia four years ago after installing the Xerox Nuvera 157 EA printer. New installation was the reason for new visit. Namely, the Forma printing house installed the Xerox Iridesse production press with additional units for Beyond CMYK printing, ie with six colors.
“With each new investment, I analyze technologies and hesitate between two or three manufacturers. But in the end I bring Xerox to the printing house again,” laughs Mr. Marko Jurkas, owner of the Forma printing house.
So you stayed faithful to Xerox technology?
Yes, we are. Everyone in the printing house is used to the processes of working with Xerox technology. Today we have several Xerox printers in operation, from Nuvera for black and white printing, through Versant to the latest Xerox Iridesse production press. We know the technology thoroughly and are aware of the quality of the print it will give us.
However, I must mention that this time the excellent service support provided by Xerox’s authorized partner, the company Uni-Biro from Ljubljana, was also important to us when choosing.
You have purchased a model that has a maximum configuration of six colors. What printing options did you get?
We have invested in the best-equipped Xerox Iridesse model with 6 additional colors in addition to the classic CMYK. The printer is configured to have 4 units to cover CMYK and two additional units. We have 6 additional colors: matt, glossy, metallic gold, metallic silver, pink fluorescent and white. Xerox uses the name Beyond CMYK for this color system. These two additional units where Beyond CMYK colors are located can be changed very quickly and easily. It takes less than ten minutes to change colors, and it is possible to do various combinations in printing, from CMYK printing, white and varnish, or to combine CMYK with metallic or fluorescent inks and all in one pass. The process of printing CMYK and special inks in the Iridesse printer is very fast and economical. By combining additional colors, we get the possibility of printing much more pantone colors compared to the classic CMYK.
In which segment of production do you use Iridesse the most and how do you plan to fill the capacities?
It is crucial for many products. It proved to be excellent in the printing of photo books, but we also use it in the printing of various leaflets and other products that we sell throuhg our online printing house. By using the Xerox Iridesse printer, we have significantly raised the level of quality.
Xerox Iridesse fit perfectly into our drive. With it we have obtained an excellent capacity of high quality printed matter and it will be crucial in the nextdevelopment cycle of Forma printing house. We plan to offer this capacity through the web-to-print platform to the European market. We have also acquired professional software for the production of photo books and this will be the first product with which we plan to fill the capacity of Xerox Iridesse printers.
