Xerox PrimeLink C9200 at Printaonica

The Zagreb-based printing house Printaonica, part of HM Promotion, and its owner Mr. Hrvoje Ivancic have been associated with Xerox from the very beginning.

“I can say I practically grew up with Xerox machines. I watched how they developed and how each new generation changed the way printing houses work,” recalls Mr. Ivancic.

In the early days of HM Promotion, the focus was far from today’s modern production environment. Their work centered on web and design, but constant client requests for printing pushed the company in a new direction. Printaonica was born—a brand under which they launched their own production.

Their first machine was a Xerox WorkCentre 7700, followed by the Xerox C560 and C60—each step bringing more quality, speed, and reliability. The latest advancement arrived recently with the installation of the Xerox PrimeLink C9200, in cooperation with long-time Xerox partner and distributor Novel Centar. They are already planning to purchase another C9200 to replace their older C60.

New Technology, New Possibilities

The Xerox PrimeLink C9200, the successor to the C9065, includes a number of improvements already making a real difference at Printaonica. Mr. Ivančić highlights the significantly lower toner cost, which allows them to compete with offset printing even for runs of 600 brochure copies—something previously impossible.

Another advantage is the wider range of printable media. In addition to standard coated and uncoated papers, the PrimeLink handles labels, magnetic films, transfer films, and even synthetic papers. Synthetic materials have become part of their everyday production, especially for menus used in hospitality venues by clients such as Heineken and Karlovačka pivovara. “These menus must withstand daily use, spills, cleaning—and synthetic paper combined with our print delivers a long-lasting solution,” explains Mr. Ivancic.

Flexibility That Saves Time

A standout capability of the PrimeLink C9200 is printing on heavy media up to 400 gsm, and duplexing up to 350 gsm. Since papers from different manufacturers react differently to heat, Xerox developed a simple yet ingenious correction system.

The printer outputs test markers on the sheet, the scanner reads them, and the software automatically adjusts settings for perfect front-to-back alignment. “We used to waste hours on manual adjustments. Now we run a single calibration cycle and we’re ready to go. If we use the same paper often, we store the settings in a dedicated tray—and everything afterward is automatic,” says Mr. Ivancic.
